Solid Beech Competition Foosball by Rene Pierre
Crafted from solid beech, the Competition is Rene Pierre’s flagship model. It really is a seriously solid beast of a table and designed to look great when not in use and to be more than capable of handling all the abuse that may come its way, once game play begins. Heavy telescopic rods that never need oiling are fast and accurate and the hand painted metal players offer high power and great feel, much better than plastic players in our opinion.
The traditional Gerflex vinyl play field provides excellent control and features raised corners so as not to cause stranded balls. The reinforced play field gives just enough so as to stop any balls forced down onto the play field from flying up and out of the table, something unique to this level of table.
When you consider the most well known baby-foot style football table around (Bonzini B90) is now a tad under £2,000, the Competition really comes into its own. Unless you are a seasoned pro player, it’s very, very unlikely that you will ever notice the difference in play between the two, yet the difference in cost is almost £500. If you have the budget for this type of table, then we can’t recommend it enough. It will provide years of great fun and look good too.
What about assembly?
The Rene Pierre Competition is pretty much fully assembled other than having to bolt on the legs and attach the scorers and handles. All-in-all it shouldn’t take more than 45 minutes
How does it play?
From a table of this quality, as you would expect, very well. The beech cabinet adds density which provides a better rebound, and the fast action telescopic rods with metal players are fast and powerful, yet offer great response and control
Who’s the Competition for?
This is a true tournament quality football table. Crafted from solid beech throughout, the Competition has everything you would expect of a pro table, yet because of the hardwood cabinet and legs, it looks like a high-end piece of game room furniture that’s perfect for any home setting
Is the Competition good value for money?
Priced at less than £1,600 the Competition may seem a tad expensive for a foosball table, however when you consider that Bonzini tables are now almost £500 more for a very similar experience, the Competition suddenly looks great value. However price aside, the features alone on this table make a top-drawer solution for anyone wanting a foosball table that not only plays superbly, but looks seriously classy too
